"This famous llama sire is the epitome of the Catskill Game farm breeding program -- carefully strutured, correct, solid, good profile and easy moving. One easily senses the masculine pride in his finely chiseled yet strong head. If any one sire could be counted on to give structure, literally and figuratively, to a breeding program, Errol Flynn is the one. Errol Flynn sons and daughters figure prominently in the Oak Hill Ranch program..." photo (shorn) and quote above found in Oak Hill Llama Ranch Sale Catalog 1991

Errol Flynn is another foundation male that was born on the Catskill Game Farm, NY, (in 1978) and purchased by Patterson Llamas, Bend, OR. Sire and dam unknown. I believe it was around 1989-1990 when he was sold to Oak Hill Ranch, Folsom, LA and sired his last (15 or more)crias on that ranch before his death on April 20, 1994. It is hard to get an acurate count because they bought some females from Patterson Ranch already bred to Errol Flynn. So not sure exactly how many were bred on their farm and how many were bred before purchase. Oak Hill Ranch had 3 sales: 1991, 1992 and 1993. He was one of the featured studs at the begining of each of their three catalogs. |

I have enjoyed studying Errol Flynn's lineage because of the unusual color patterns that I have found associated with him. Often he has produced appaloosa, reverse appaloosa, and mottled face patterns, not to mention the markings around his eyes. Two such llamas that caught my eye were Karlsbad WI01 and his full brother, Doozledorff. He has, of course, produced just about every color and patern. I just happen to be taken by the mottled ones. |

I thought since I did not have a whole lot of history on this guy, I would list several of his better known offspring. Just like in all my articles, any time I list a llama's name, it is a link to thier picture, so just click on the names:
