NOTE that many of these groups cover a wide range of states so if they are even just close to where you need the help, contact them. They all have a network of 'coordinators' to take in llamas or help with handling problems, basic llama care and health problems.

Southeast Llama RescueSELR is a 501C3 non-profit organization incorporated in North Carolina. The mission is to protect the quality of life and improve the well being of abused, neglected, unwanted and behaviorally unmanageable llamas through prevention, education, intervention, placement and lifelong care. We try to educate new llama owners by providing information and finding local "mentors" to help with basic care if needed. In situations where the owners are not interested in learning, we try to convince the owner to surrender the llamas to SELR. Sometimes in abuse cases we work with local law enforcement and animal control authorities. SELR also works closely with Llama Rescue Net, Northeast Llama Rescue, and Indian Creek Llama Sanctuary.
